Some stories have a certain irony that’s remembered by people. News reports of a policeman’s own car being stolen, for example. Or a garden columnist’s plants disappearing. If you recall, that’s what happened a little over a year ago, as a number of our potted trees, shrubs and perennials went missing. In a state of high irritation I wrote my September 4, 2016 gardening post entitled “What Kind of Gardener Steals Plants?” which can be read by clicking the article below, with details of how the plants disappeared.
I’ve been surprised by the number of kind people who have asked during the past year if we ever discovered what happened to the plants. Well, the answer is no, the items were never located or returned. On the upside, only a pickup load or so of plants and watering hoses were taken. As soon as I discovered the loss, we moved the remaining plants, before the borrowers could return for more. Now, a year later, the remaining trees, shrubs and perennials are growing at our new home location. So yes, the glass is half full, not half empty.
Thanks to all who asked, and now you know the rest of the story.
